Why a Professional Organizer Has These Drawer Dividers All Over Her House

Elsa Elbert has been professionally organizing people’s homes for 10 years, and says there’s one “universal organizing product” that she recommends for just about every room.

Elsa Elbert was organizing her family’s home long before she ever thought of doing it professionally.

“I think I was born with it,” she says of her passion for organizing. “I was definitely the kid who liked to pull everything out of the refrigerator to clean everything out, and put it back all perfect. We had like a big linen closet in our house and I loved just taking everything out and refolding it so it was all perfect.”

Now the founder and CEO of Composed Living, a professional home organization company based in Los Angeles, Elbert has shared that passion with countless homeowners.

In that time, she’s also tested and used every home organization product she could get her hands on. “Because we like to test them out first and make sure that they're gonna hold the test of time for our clients,” she says.

There’s one product that she recommends for just about every room of the house: the Fabsome bamboo dresser drawer organizers.

“Bamboo dividers everywhere,” she says. “I think a bamboo drawer divider is the most universal organizing product that you can purchase.”

Elbert practices what she preaches and says these dividers can be found in just about every drawer of her house.

“I would say they're probably in most of the spaces,” she says. “We have them in all of our closet drawers or dresser drawers, and also in all of our bathroom drawers.”

She adds they’re particularly good in the kitchen for keeping utensils and other tools separated by category.

“Our one kitchen drawer, the one that gets used the most often, has all of our cooking utensils in it, and it has, I think, three or four of those drawer dividers,” she says. “So there's one section for spatulas, one section for ladles, one section for baking stuff. You're not opening a drawer and trying to kind of scramble through everything to find the one tool that you need.”

Elbert came across the Fabsome bamboo drawer dividers during one of her routine equipment tests, and says they outperformed similar drawer dividers she’s used.

“These ones we have just never had a problem with,” she says. “And I think that they also just kind of keep getting better. Like now they even have a little rubber padding on the side so it doesn't scratch the inside of your drawer and it helps it kind of stick better. The price on them has really started to come down, which is awesome.”

They’re still more expensive than plastic drawer dividers, though Elbert says the bamboo ones are worth the investment because they’re more durable, so you’ll actually end up saving money in the long run.

“A lot of the plastic ones have a different mechanism that's sort of like, you expand it and then lock it into place,” she says. “And I found that that mechanism doesn't really hold tension as well over time, whereas the bamboo ones we've had in place in our own kitchen for five years and they haven't budged at all. So I would say, zero hesitation about making the switch from the plastic ones to the bamboo ones. If anything, I think you're gonna find that they last a lot longer.”

As an added bonus, bamboo is a sustainable material.
