How to wear summer’s biggest jewelry trends, according to a jewelry designer

Hysteria Jewelry founder and designer Jackie Ansell explains why styling your outfit jewelry-first  — instead of clothing-first — is a great way to shake up your go-to summer combos.

After years of minimalist chains, stacked huggie earrings, and tennis bracelets, jewelry is getting a little bigger, a little brighter, and a little more maximally minded. From the return of brooches to layered strands of beads, jewelry is once again taking center stage in our outfits.

It’s a great way to inform your daily fit if you’re feeling like you’re in a summer style rut, too: Working your outfit from your jewelry out, as opposed to starting with your favorite top or a go-to skirt, also gives you a totally different foundation to start from.

To get the best tips on how to style jewelry this summer, we spoke with someone who works with jewelry every day: Hysteria Jewelry designer Jackie Ansell.

Jackie Ansell’s summer jewelry must-haves:

Best beaded necklaces for layering color:Statement Gemstone Necklaces, from $310 to $750 at Solo Jewelry Shop

Best chandelier earrings for a style statement:Warm Cascade Chandelier Earrings, $550 at Hysteria Jewelry
