Lim discovered this bag via a client, and it’s barely left her side since. “This is the roomiest fanny pack ever,” she says. “What’s that bag where you just keep taking things out, and it’s sort of never-ending? It’s so surprising just how roomy this bag is.” 

Case in point: “In my fanny pack, I have an umbrella because it rains a lot in Asia. I’m ever prepared. My wallet, medication, wipes, my phone, a charger. When I’m on the plane, my passport fits in it, my boarding passes—everything,” she says. “You have a main pocket, an internal pocket and an outside pocket, so you’ve got three pockets.”

Keeping this bag in tip-top shape is also incredibly easy because of its design. Lim’s has held up for four years with very basic care. “The material is also very thick nylon,” she says. “I’ve thrown this in the wash many times. It hasn’t shrunk. The zippers are very, very durable. They never snag. Even the strap itself—it might look kind of tough, like it might cut into your skin, but it’s not. It’s soft enough. It’s durable yet soft. Kudos to the Baggu design team.”

If you’re looking for an everyday bag that can keep up with your travel plans, this is it. “I’ve worn this on family vacations where you just need to have your phone and your wallet in front at all times,” she adds. “You need to be hands-free, wrangling the kids and stuff, and it’s just been the best item.  

“It’s really more traveling around unfamiliar places that I really like that bag. You just want to be secure.”

With how hot and sunny it can get in Singapore, Lim says the UV hat is “a crowdpleaser.” 

“This is my go-to gift,” Lim says. “I’ve given my in-laws one, my nieces, my aunts. That’s really my go-to present for everybody.” 

She loves the sun protection at the back of the neck, and the fact that it’s water-resistant and fold-up-ability mean it can handle whatever the day brings, then pack away nicely when you don't need it. 

“It’s only the brim that’s sort of a solid part of it,” she says. “But it folds to the size of my palm. You can just sort of smush it into your bag, I think.

The only downside is the same one that curses most protective sun hats: its design. 

“It does give you a little outdoorsy vibe, and some people might think that aesthetically this is a little limiting,” she says. However, “it’s just a practical hat to wear outdoors hiking. I’m not sure if you would wear this in a more urban setting. Probably a baseball cap would still be more expected. That would be the only thing. Would I ever show up to brunch with this hat on? Probably not.”

“I swear by the sunscreen,” she says. “It’s by a Spanish company. It’s something I’ve used for at least five years. It’s called Cantabria Labs, but the brand is Heliocare. It’s the most absorbent sunscreen I’ve ever used.” 

While it’s a must-have at home in Singapore, Lim considers it essential wherever she travels.

“Even in the Philippines, it gets quite sunny,” Lim says. “Protection is important to me. I always have a little tube in my Baggu fanny pack. Just a little goes a long way.”

“It doesn’t have that white cast you usually have when you put on sunscreen. This one, your skin really absorbs it quickly, and it gives great protection.”

For Lim, the product is fine used without makeup as part of her daily routine. 

“I just don’t put a lot of makeup on, so I figure that maybe I should just take care of my skin,” she says. “This has been the best sunscreen for me. I don’t use it with any makeup or anything. It just goes straight on my skin. It’s just the most no-nonsense, easy, one-item-and-done. It moisturizes. It protects your skin.”

“My most favorite item to use [for traveling] is the MUJI hardshell suitcase,” Lim says. “It’s a very small carry-on. You can easily put it in the overhead, but I’ve taken enough stuff for a week-long journey. MUJI advertises it as a two- to three-day bag, but you can literally fit as much as seven days’ worth of stuff there.

“The great thing about it is that it has a brake. The brakes work really well, even if I pile on a lot of stuff in it,” Lim says. “So it’s very light, but you can easily brake it, and it stays put. So if you’re in the car [and] put it next to you, it won’t be flying around in the trunk or anything — or in the bus, or in the subway. It’s great.”  

The suitcase has already stood the test of time for Lim, who has been using it since 2019. She also says the luggage incorporates recycled bottles in its design. “But the plastic’s just very durable — it’s not the wobbly plastic,” she says.
