Top NYC plastic surgeon @LaraDevganMD on 5 go-to essentials that get her through her busiest days

Dr. Devgan isn’t just passionate about skincare and the best products for skin health. Haircare is also important to her. “I love Le Labo shampoo and conditioner. As someone with long hair, I love to keep my hair clean, shiny, and healthy.”

Le Labo’s unique fragrances elevate the self-care experience—not to mention, they smell fantastic. Dr. Devgan’s default scent is Santal 33. “I love the element of a beautiful sandalwood and amber infused fragrance to add depth,” she says. “These products are excellent for anyone with any hair length who enjoys the fragrance palette.” 

One of Le Labo’s slogans is “Fragrance yourself (or someone else…).” Dr. Devgan does both. “I even use them to bathe my cats. And my cats smell great.”

Vitamin C treatments have gained momentum in the skincare world for its range of benefits, like anti-aging, brightening, and discoloration. 

“Vitamin C serum can be used in the morning or at night or both, depending on your skin type, and it is one of the best evidence-backed ingredients in medical-grade skincare,” Devgan says. 

She formulated her own serum with other key actives, like a higher percentage of vitamin C, plus vitamin B, vitamin E, Ferulic acid and acetal octapeptide. 

Apply 2-3 drops of the serum twice a day, but keep it up: Devgan says consistency is key here. “With use consistently, you'll see brightness and improvement in tone, texture, and pigment of the skin within three to four weeks.”

Another feature Dr. Devgan highlights in her practice is the lips, and for her, a bold red never misses. “I think this is a classic, beautiful, high contrast lip color that adds pigment and definition to the shape of the lips. I love a true red because it evokes elegance and is very timeless.”

She notes that it does wear quickly when eating or drinking, but a little bit goes a long way in terms of application. “With a little bit [of Chanel Rouge] you can really complete a look. So, it's nice for on-the-go application.” 

Eyes are one of Devgan’s specialty procedures, with clients seeking out her expertise in lifting and rejuvenating the delicate skin of that area. “As a plastic surgeon who performs eyelid surgery as well as injectables around the eyes, safety for the ocular area is very important,” says Devgan. 

Lash growth serums have exploded in popularity, but some don’t realize that some of these serums can have long term side effects due to certain ingredients, like prostaglandin, which can cause orbital fat loss around the eyes. 

So, Dr. Devgan created her own lash serum to deliver on results without the damage. “[Platinum Lash] is an amazing eyelash and eyebrow serum that is prostaglandin-free. But like with all skincare products, results may vary, and Dr. Devgan says that everyone’s lash growth timeline varies. “The full eyelash growth cycle is four to five months. So, it does take time,” says Dr Devgan. “Eyelashes are like the hairs on our head. They grow until their life cycle is over. So patience is a virtue when it comes to Platinum Long Lash.”

Good things take time, and Dr. Devgan encourages trusting the process. As part of her regular routine to encourage growth, Dr. Devgan uses a beauty hack of sorts: “I often will use my extreme lengthening mascara on top of Platinum Long Lash for both the instant gratification and the delayed gratification.”
