“My husband found it and I think we were pretty early adopters,” says McLeod. “We've had it for over three years now.
“Sleep is non-negotiable for me. I fiercely protect it. I'm not a natural morning person, and if I'm not getting at least eight hours, I simply don't show up well. Sleep is my number-one priority for beauty, wellness, and overall ability to live a conscious life!”
Eight Sleep’s super-advanced mattress cover isn’t your standard setup: It can cool your mattress down to 55 degrees Fahrenheit or heat it to 110 degrees, with you and your partner both able to control your individual sides of the bed.
For McLeod, the improvement in her sleep has been more than worth the investment.
“Why does this magical mattress pad have such a place in my heart? It warms me up, literally,” she says. “Before I had babies, I used to run hot, really hot. Then something shifted: Now I'm always cold. The dual-zone temperature control means two people with completely different needs can both sleep comfortably.
“With the Eight Sleep, by the time I get into bed at night, I can feel warmth radiating up from my side of the mattress through the comforter. Getting in bed feels so joyous so exciting and deeply comforting. Then, I’ll reach my foot across the bed to my husband’s side and retract back feeling the arctic zone. We are very different creatures. The Eight Sleep lets us each set our own temperature and both get a great night’s sleep.”
It also has built-in alarms (vibration and thermal) to wake you up gently each morning. They’re a “total game changer,” says McLeod. “No jarring sound, just a gentle buzz that pulls you out of sleep gradually. It's the kindest way to wake up when you don't want to.”
As high-tech as it already is, it’s no wonder that the cover also tracks your sleep overnight, a feature McLeod says she unexpectedly loves.
“It tells me exactly how much deep sleep and REM sleep I'm getting each night,” she says. “It even compares my sleep score to my husband's, which I find endlessly entertaining, because I almost always win.”
For anyone craving a better night’s rest and who’s happy with an upfront investment, McLeod doesn’t shy away from recommending it.
“It's best for any human who sleeps, anyone who runs hot and cold in the same bed, anyone serious about recovery and performance, and anyone whose sleep quality has quietly slipped and they want to actually understand why,” she says.
